Last night and etc.

If you're curious: the fondue was a complete flop. Terrible. I will not attempt that recipe again. Waste of good cheese...

KT's last night was fun, and I actually showed some restraint and didn't drink all the wine... When I drove up I was happy to see that SuperT was there, and when I walked in it was KidMania 2007. 6 kids under the age of 4... It was crazy only because there were so many of them, but they were all really well behaved, and provided some great entertainment. Oh yeah, then Bek arrived with her youngest... It was great fun, but whew!

The Other Liz is on her way to Jamaica now, the lucky girl. She deserves it, but yes, I'm jealous!

Speaking of jealousy... My eyes were opened a bit last night to a different perspective regarding someone I know. It seems that they live their life in complete and utter envy. Bitter, shallow, single-mindedness... very sad. I feel sorry for them.

I have an open house today, (please someone, please buy this house! it is the thorn in my side!). Hopefully my new novel will make the time fly by. You may not be aware of this, but having an open house is like stepping into a world where time slows down. 3 hours actually seem like 10. True fact, ask any Realtor...

I looked up 'The Great Gatsby' yesterday and discovered that I'm not a moron... I 'got' the major points of the novel. I also learned that when it was originally published it was not a success. It was not until a reprinting in the 50's that it caught on. I swear that sometimes books (fiction and not) do well because there is someone, (Person A), with very few original thoughts of their own, talking with someone (Person B), who is so proud that they actually read a book, that they tell Person A all about it. Person A wants to seem intelligent, as they rarely do, and buy the book, and regurgitate basically what Person B told them about the book to anyone who will listen. Some of these people are in the same category of Person A, and aspire to sound intelligent like Person B... until the book is a best seller. Ladies sit at their social functions with their floral print dresses, fancy hats, and dainty cups of tea discussing profound ideas encapsulated in this literary work of art... so on and etc. ad nauseam... Oh sorry, that was rather rantish... I hope you get my point... but please don't make it your own opinion, or I may just rant about you!

Have a great day!

I so agree (re: Person A and Person B). I thought the Great Gatsby was much better in movie than in book, which is rare.

Hey -- what flopped with the fondue? I've done a couple before with mixed success...

I haven't seen the movie, 'The Great Gatsby'... the only movie that I've seen that was better than the book, strangely enough, was 'Cocoon'.
I used a crock pot for the fondue because I thought it would be easier to transport than the 7 peice fondue pot. I think that fact that it cooled down on the ride there, 'low' was too low to keep it sufficiently melty, and 'high' was too hot and it burnt to the sides... It was fine before I left home... Old cheddar, gruyere and fontina... Very sad waste of cheese

Oh but it sounds lovely. I haven't read Cocoon the book, I should...

(in what spare time we all have, eh?)
