Mid July

I can't believe that it is already mid-July! Where has the summer gone? Where is it going?

Yesterday Billy and I ventured to the Mall to see Harry Potter. It was really good, I loved it! But, as I heard a movie reviewer say on the week-end, and I shall adopt his opinion as my own, that I do miss the Christmas like magical feel of the first movie, when everything was new and shiny. Hogwarts literally saved little Harry's spirit. Now he's a bitter hormonal teenager. Times change...

After the movie, we stopped by Leon's, (apparently Canada's only furniture superstore...) to look around... or so I thought! Billy had it in his head for me to pick out a birthday present... new couch, loveseat, chair and tables! Woo hoo! Being delivered Wednesday! Don't get me wrong, I really do like our current set that we've had for 6 years now. It's in good shape, but, as anyone who was ever sat on our loveseat can attest, the cushions are completely mushy. In fact the loveseat is so bad, if two people are on it, they inevitably have their thighs and shoulders stuck together. So anyways, very exciting! The perfect gift! Funny is that I really wanted a new set last year, but I just put it out of my head and accepted our mushy furniture. Billy's a good man!

I also should mention that MomG and my sister-in-law are going to Vegas on the 22nd. I was invited, but I said no. The weird thing is that when I called MomG to tell her, I had every intention of saying yes. I've always been a firm follower of the idea that at the end of the year, you're not going to say to yourself, 'I'm so glad I saved that $500 and didn't go to Vegas...' instead you think, 'what a great time! What fun memories made!' When it came time to tell MomG, 'no' slipped out of my mouth when I meant to say 'yes'! I do think it is for the best, and obviously my subconscious was listening to my brain, (a rare occurrence) because I think I would have felt guilty about the situation. There is always next year... No regrets.

My Mom is leaving the 21st, (my 34th b-day) on a bus trip for 2 weeks with my 13 year old nephew. The fact that she will be gone on my b-day is sort of a long running joke between us. Growing up there was always a convention, either agricultural related in my early years, or cake related in my teens and twenties... It's all good. I've never been big on birthdays anyways, I'll take Christmas any day... This year K&J's annual golf and pool party is on Saturday and of course will be an awesome time.

So next week will be Mom free for me. What am I eight? I do talk to the Moms regularly...

To steal from another lurk worthy blog (as DD would say...)... It's Summertime and the living is easy...
