What should I say?

Prepare yourself for some random, unrelated, disjointed thoughts.

TOL is in the Netherlands and her blog is awesome. So interesting! Her adventures make me want to apply to the Finland trip next year. Except it is in Finland... Anyways, I'm uber jealous of TOL and wish her the best of time!

I had to drag my ass to the gym today. My only motivation is the coffee that awaits me at home when I'm done... and it would be easier just to wake up and make the coffee and stay home... but I've got to get rid of some flabs.

Davey's wife had a tummy tuck yesterday, and I hope she is well. I have no problem with people getting plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons, as long as it is for the right reason. She is doing it for the right reason. Good for her.

I golfed nine holes yesterday, then Billy joined me for another nine. I golfed really poorly. The fact is I can't accurately reach the green in 2 on long par 4's or 3 in long par 5's. I lay up (accurately) but I'm still too short to put it close enough to the hole to one putt. Therefore, my game yesterday was chock full of doubles. Yuck! I have to lengthen and straighten my second and third shots.

Billy bought new ECCO golf kicks yesterday and he was stylin'. He didn't golf great either, but we did have an excellent dinner at the 'club' (I'm such a snob - oh oh I actually had a club, I'm so clever as well!) Actually, people there are really, really, overly, incredibly nice. They're very cool, not quite what I expected!

This guy at the gym today turned the channel from the Canadian news I was watching, (I find the Virginia Tech tragedy overwhelming to deal with), to Saved by the Bell. WTF? Saved by the Bell? I've seen this same guy taking a break between sets, walking over to the TV to see what Screech, Zach and their zany friends are up to. What a goof.

So Virginia Tech, good God, it makes me sick. I'm so sensitive to things like that, I have a hard time even listening to the reports. I haven't seen much TV this week, and in the car I have been listening to Howard Stern on Sirius, so I had no idea of how bad it was at VT until last night. The immediate report I heard was 1 dead and 30 injured. Good God, how do these people handle a disaster of this significance? My heart goes out to them all, so very sad... I find it difficult how casually the reporters and TV people talk about this tragedy... "and now for the weather..." We are so desensitized when it comes to violence. That is disturbing as well...

This type of thing has happened in Canada as well. It's not just a dirty American thing. I remember when I was in university, a gunman went nuts at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, separated the men, and killed 16 women. Ugh, sick. Also about a year ago, at a college in Quebec a gunman killed one and injured 20. Gun control people, really. So sad, again, my heart goes out to them all. Is there a lesson we can learn? Possibly. Enjoy life to the fullest. Pay attention to the people around you, be kind to everyone and listen when someone is talking or not talking to you. I guess.
