The eagle has landed

One of the most prominent signs of American patriotism has decided to nest on the East Beach at Point Pelee - Leamington, Ontario, Canada.

MomG took the pooch today to the point, despite the 38*F weather and apparently there was a sign posted indicating that Bald Eagles are nesting on the East Beach. I never knew we had eagles in this area. How very cool!

So how long has this been going on? I can find local eagle activity at the point dating back to 1998 on Google. Obviously I'm ignorant in the behavior of wing'ed American symbols of freedom. Why are they here? Why are the Americans keeping this exodus a secret? Is it our heath care? Our quality of living? It can't be the high taxes...

Well good luck eagles. Enjoy the fine climate and protected woodland of the point. Feel free to invite other wing'ed and furry friends north (or South, depending). I'd love to see armadillos roaming around (those pre-historic freaks), also a wider selection of lizards would be nice.

I should also mention, that I've never seen a real live beaver or moose, and they are a Canadian symbol. I'm not exactly sure what they represent... we build good dams? We freak out motorists? I'll look into it in attempt to be less ignorant and more informed...
